Devanshu Tak. HIT | Kala HIT, Stop Dengue | Ad Film

A TV ad for HIT's Kala HIT, Stop Dengue campaign, made at Shapeshifter. I took the mosquito character and a layered suit-forming effect, plus support on the arrow effect.

Behind the scenes

Two heavy pieces on this one. A mosquito character and a suit that forms in layers on the hero. Tight timeline, mid-May to late July 2026, and a lot of it was custom-built from scratch.

The hero, the mom, was captured on Luma. I used that scan as reference to model the layers of the leather superhero suit in Blender. Then into Houdini, where I animated it layer by layer, the multiple fabric-weave layers forming into the suit across two shots. Lit, shaded and rendered there. The whole forming effect was fully procedural, no simulation, which kept it controllable but very heavy.

The mosquito started from a model off the internet. I recreated it, applied the groom in Houdini, and ported the rig into KineFX. Then I learned the new APEX framework and built a full character rig for it from scratch.

All of it ran in Houdini Solaris, rendered in Karma, with Blender for the suit modelling. A blend of complicated technical and design work in a short window.
